ELEVATING YOUR BRAND

As a business owner, you’re constantly bombarded with products, online courses, and other resources marketed toward your business.

And, while many of these resources truly are valuable, knowing when and why to invest is key for growth. One of the biggest challenges is building your strategy - there are A LOT of options, but you must invest in the right element at the right time for you.

So how are you supposed to know whether brand photography is the right investment?

If you’re considering investing in professional brand photos but aren’t sure if you’re ready, here are 4 signs to look for to determine if it’s the right next step for you!

4 Reasons to Invest in Brand Photography

#1 - You are already in the process of rebranding or creating a new website.

If you’ve already hired a designer and are in the process of refreshing or creating your website, having updated brand photos to go along with your shiny new look is a natural pairing. As a professional brand photographer, this is the most common time clients hire me for photos. And it makes sense! Having a new website with elevated brand photos is a great way to put your best foot forward as you launch a new business or refresh your current one!

Your designer can also let you know of any photos that would be beneficial to have for your new website. Maybe they need horizontal images to use as background photos. Or maybe they need photos of you looking in specific directions based on the copy layout. By collaborating with your designer, you’ll end up with strategic brand photos and a very visually cohesive website.

And as a bonus, you’ll have a wide variety of professional photos that can be used beyond your new website across social media to keep your brand cohesive wherever your dream clients interact with you.

#2 - You look nothing like your current photos.

If the photos you’re using to promote your business are years old, it’s time for an update. Also, if you’ve recently changed your overall appearance (like chopping off or recoloring your hair), it’s important that your photos represent the way you look today so that your prospective clients or customers can really get to know who you are!

Or maybe you moved to an entirely new location — say from a big city to a coastal beach town. Your location can impact your brand, so having photos that represent that is key to visually representing your brand in the best light possible. This is especially important if you offer in-person services, events, or have a brick-and-mortar location.

#3 - You’ve increased rates or changed your offerings.

If your brand has pivoted into a new space, added new offerings, and/or increased its rates, it’s time for updated photos. Having photos that are on-brand and up-to-date will dramatically increase the perceived value of your business. This is key to any business, but it’s especially important if you are charging more!

There’s power in investing in brand photography for your business. It helps illustrate and visually highlight what it’s like working with you, your process, and can even highlight some of your best client work to help attract more of those dream clients.

Which takes us to #4…

#4 - You aren’t attracting your ideal clients or your target market has changed.

The way your photos look - from the outfits you wear and the props you use to the location of the shoot and the colors in your photos - must speak to your ideal client.  If you are now serving a completely different market or you’re not attracting your target market, it’s time for updated brand photos! Your photos will either attract or repel your dream clients, so make sure the images you’re highlighting are aligned with the type of clients you actually want to work with!

Or maybe you’ve been cycling through the same set of images for years (…and years…and years). Reusing the same photos over and over and over again can become boring and they can start to lose their pop. Investing in brand photography allows you to have an abundance of fresh images you can use to effortlessly attract your dream clients visually.

There you have it! If you’re currently at any of these 4 pivotal times in your business, investing in brand photos is certainly the right move for you!
